LIA Scholarship Grant Program

The LIA Scholarship Grant Program is created to promote academic and scholastic excellence and to assist the poor but deserving, outstanding and talented students of Libsong East and Libsong West, Lingayen, Pangasinan in their pursuit of a 4-year non-medical college degree particularly in the fields of computer science, engineering, accounting, education, fisheries, hotel and restaurant management and agriculture in Pangasinan universities and colleges.

Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must be:
1. A bona fide residence of Libsong East or Libsong West, Lingayen, Pangasinan
2. Have a cumulative Academic Grade Point Average of 85% and above
3. From a less fortunate and low-income family
4. Have been accepted as a full time undergraduate student by an accredited University or College in Pangasinan by passing the entrance examination and interview
5. A full-time student and maintain a good standing during the entire school year
6. Have a good moral character
7. He or She should have demonstrated the following:
a. Leadership
b. Proficiency in writing and speaking
c. Perform community service/s
d. Promotes Pangasinan language and culture
e. Demonstrated other talents (ex. Sports, music, art)

Scholarship Process
Qualified applicants may request application forms from the LIA Scholarship Grant Committee. They should complete the application form and attach a 2x2 picture, authenticated Xeroxed copy of their Form 138 (card) or Official Transcript of Records, pictures of medals, plaques of commendation and certificates of participation to the LIA SGPC thru the Chairman and members. The deadline for submission of application is December 31, 2002. The LIA SGCP will submit its final recommendation to the LIA Board of Directors who shall make its decision in February 2003. The LIA SGCP however, reserves the right to modify or extend the deadline.

Scholarship Awards
The LIA Scholarship Grant Program Committee with the concurrence of the LIA Board of Directors will decide the number of awards and the amount to be awarded


Criteria for Selection
The LIA Scholarship Grant Program is open to all qualified applicants of Libsong East and/or Libsong West, Lingayen, Pangasinan who are poor and deserving college bound students. Applicants must have the highest grade (GPA) of at least 85% and above, must belong to a marginal family and pass the entrance examination and interview at an accredited Pangasinan college or university.

Allocation of Grants
The number of grants will depend upon the funds and number of sponsorship afforded by LIA. The LIA Scholarship Grant Program will provide financial assistance of "Up to" Two hundred dollars ($200) per student for one school year (2 semesters). LIA will pay the tuition fees on behalf of the grantee to the college or university on or before the enrollment. The student's family will bear the financial responsibility for the other school and college expenses.

LIA BOOK DONATION PROJECT

LIA is asking everyone to donate books and magazines for the Libsong East Barangay Library and for Libsong Elementary School Library. If you have books and magazines that have been accumulating dust in your bookcases over the years, our barangay nees those. We encourage everyone to share those idle sources of knowledge with our kabaryoans. You are free to donate not just books or magazines but also other things that you may find appropriate in a library. Please contact mrs. Elvie Arcelona-Kyreakakis of New Jersey at 973-285-0880. In Libsong, Please contact LES Principal Jose Rivera at 6375-542-2884 or contact the Libsong East Barangay Council.

PROJECTS:
1. Donated four(4)computers to the Libsong Elementary School(LES)
(Computer training classes is now a part of LES curriculum)
2. Scholarship Grant to four Libsong poor and deserving college
students at
Pangasinan State University, Lingayen
3.Cash Awards to LES honor graduates and Best in Computer.
4.Cash donation to the Libsong East and Libsong Center Hermandad for
their projects.
5.Green Project at LES
6. Donated computer to the Libsong East Barangay Council
7. Donated books and magazines to LES
